Still More Adama
I know it’s been a terribly Adama-heavy week, reader, but I’ve got some news I need to share. On Wednesday, while out running with his new friend, Horton, Adama wasn’t watching where he was going and plowed straight into one of the poo-recepticles dotting the dog park. At first, it was about as comical a sight as you might imagine, but the humor quickly faded when it became clear that he’d hurt himself pretty badly (he’s been unable to put any weight on his left front leg since it happened). X-rays suggest that he didn’t break anything, but given that he’s not getting any better, I have to believe there’s something seriously wrong.
If there is, in fact, serious damage to a bone or ligament, that obviously sucks pretty hard for Adama, who’s never much liked sitting still for any stretch of time, however minor. But it also deals a pretty heavy blow to our plans as they currently stand. I hate to think about having to start the walk without Adama, or even going without him entirely, so please keep your fingers crossed for a quick recovery.
I’m in Chicago at the moment, so Adama is currently under the care of my good friend and fellow blogger, Adam K. Adam tells me that Adama’s been getting plenty of rest and that he’s taking his anti-inflammatory meds like a champ. It’s hard to be away from him when he’s hurting, but the trip just couldn’t be avoided. I’ll keep you updated over the days to come.
In other news, I’m dangerously close to finally finishing Chapter 3. I’m taking all of next week off to work on new material, so I hope to have a pantload of new pages, outlines, and character sketches to offer in the month to come. Only seven weeks to Walk Day, reader! It’s hard to believe. Pretty much every element of this project is gonna be cranking up between now and then, so stay tuned.
Meantime, for those of you looking for ways to help Adama feel better, he’s already informed me that any pledge-ideas, pledges, or donatations would go a long way toward his recovery. Yeah, that’s right. I played that card.
