ReminderHappy MLK Day, reader.  I hope you’re spending yours in a reverent way.  If you’ve never been down to Memphis for the occasion, I highly recommend that you try to work it into your plans for next year.  It’s really a remarkable experience.

Anyway, onward.  I’m not going to take up too much of your time today, but I did want to drop a couple of reminders on you regarding things upcoming.  The first is a poetry release party at City Theatre this Friday (1/22/10), hosted by my good friend and fellow Memphis-appreciator David Michael Belczyk.  If you read this post, you’re already aware that the party kicks off at 8pm for those who haven’t purchased the book, and 7pm for those who have.  So if you feel like getting there early for the live music, poetry readings, free food, and cash bar, be sure to direct some coin to this locale.  Same goes for those who just dig illuminating poetry about love and loss.  Same goes for those who like projects that donate their proceeds to education charities.

In any case, David’s poetry is unparalleled, so if you fancy yourself the kind of person who likes to expand his/her mind, this party’s for you.  Plus, I’ll be there, along with several other What We’ve Got Guest-Posters, so it’ll give us all a chance to finally meet you, reader.

Update: If you’re a Facebookite, you can RSVP here.

The second reminder is one I’ve bombarded you with already, but it remains important.  January 25th draws nigh.  Indeed, this is the last week for you to vote on your favorite charity for my upcoming walk.  For your convenience, I’ve provided the poll below (and if you’ll indulge me, I’ll be doing so all week long).  If you vote, you’ll see that the Rainforest Alliance still holds a substantial lead, but the other two charities are by no means out of the hunt.  If you fancy one of them better, please feel free to vote as many times as you like.
