About
Kyle

Kyle grew up in small town Illinois, proper mid-American with values and that whole bag. But after some college and some real life, he knows the score now. Ghostwriting pays the bills. Jeanette Oliver is the woman he loves. And he’s got a decent creative project in mind. What else is there? He’s currently walking all over America’s southeast.
Adama

Adama is a disobedient one-year-old Golden Retriever with an oral fixation problem and a penchant for eating bark. Wood derivatives of any kind, really. Paper, tissues, rolls of toilet paper. Whatever he can fit in his mouth. He’s a fan of lying around all day and then going positively bananas on any guests Kyle decides to have over at night. He does know how to sit. And he’s a hell of a walker. So give him that.
The Walk

Kyle’s a man who demands authenticity in anything he writes. He spent a year in Pittsburgh researching locations, histories, and strategies for the fictional battle he intends to there depict. And since he’s planning on sending his two main characters on a walk from Miami to Pittsburgh, he figures he ought to take that same walk himself. He began the journey on April 14th, 2010 and, assuming a reasonable number of disasters, he should finish the journey near the middle of July. It’s possible the walk will shape the book Kyle’s working on. Better yet, he plans to use the journey to raise money for the Children’s Defense Fund.
To that end, Kyle plans to blog about the walk at hand, delivering insights from the road that will hopefully be at least moderately stimulating. Here and there, he will post excerpts and concepts from What We’ve Got, with the goal being to share as much with his readers as the demands of the walk will allow.
What We’ve Got

Following the events of late 2008, America’s economy has utterly collapsed. Without access to their daily needs, the populace falls into mass hysteria, which leads to rioting and looting. What’s left of the US government attempts to institute martial law, but due to the rapid deterioration of the political and economic infrastructure, that soon fizzles. Chaos ensues.
In Pittsburgh, PA, that chaos leads to an all-out war between two unlikely foes: a mob of card-carrying gun aficionados and a band of people that get their kicks by dressing up like furry animals.
Far from this conflict (and without gasoline to fuel them), a young man named Walter “Dub” Schenley, a troubled young woman named Gayle Desiree, and a stray dog named Adama embark on a walk to prevent their best friend from making a huge mistake. Their walk takes them 1,300 miles from Key West, FL to Pittsburgh, PA and their ultimate fate.
